The art of the Japanese garden

Also known as a Zen garden, Japanese rock gardens are based on ancient outdoor rituals, being spaces for peace, reflection and tranquility. They’re also fun to design and easy to maintain.

Typically used by ancient Buddhists as a tool for meditation, Japanese rock gardens represent the four elements with symbolism relating to the Asian landscape. They’re beautiful in their simplicity with clean lines, rocks, plants and water.

small zen garden ... Would love to convert a space bedroom to be an indoor Zen garden. Must remember this when I have a big house!

They’re easy to maintain too, so landscaping and designing a zen garden will give you less work to do in the long run.

indoor garden..I love plants

If you’re short on space, you can always try a miniature zen garden in a pot, which is perfect for a balcony or patio area. A little piece of calm.
