Doritos advert stars The Mariachis are set to send Mexican waves through Coventry next month.

The acoustic four-piece will spice up Hillfields music venue the Kasbah on Friday, October 16, when they perform a live fiesta like no other.

The Mariachis, who hail from Mexico and other Central and South American countries, first sprang to fame advertising Doritos products on TV screens across the UK in 2013.

Since they first got the country singing and dancing along to the adverts, the group has gone on to perform in front of a crowd of more than 30,000 people at Wireless Festival and even wowed the royal family with a secret acoustic gig at The Ritz.

During their lively stage routines, the band dress in traditional charro suits while performing their own Mexican renditions of iconic pop classics such as Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’, Human League’s ‘Don’t You Want Me Baby’ and East 17’s ‘Stay Another Day’.

Amarjit Kullar, of the Kasbah, said the band is a firm favourite for Coventry revellers after performing at the venue two years ago.

“The Mariachis first brought the Mexican party to the Kasbah back in 2013 and were a real hit with clubbers on the night,” he said.

“With their charismatic personalities and feel good covers of British pop classics, it’s no wonder they became a UK pop sensation overnight.

“We are sure the city’s partygoers will look forward to welcoming their return for another fun and energetic performance.”

Tickets are priced at £5 for over 18s only and includes entry to the venue’s Kinky clubnight. The Mariachis 2015[1]
