A new training course designed to help beauty queens master the art of airbrush make up like their celebrity idols is being trialled for the first time in Coventry.

Experienced trainer Terry Turner, who has taught application techniques to makeup artists that work on the sets of Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, is launching a new training course at the Premiere Classe Hotel on Wigston Road, Walsgrave on Friday, August 19th.

The course will provide guests with their own home use airbrush make up studio to keep, and will teach air brushing techniques that cover laying foundation and applying blush on to the skin, contouring, blending and mixing make up to get the right tone.

Terry, who is Business Development Consultant at Airbase Makeup, said: “Airbrush make up has been used professionally in the film and television industry for over 20 years, but because airbrushing is becoming more affordable and HD TV is now everywhere, it is creeping into homes around the UK.

“Make-up lovers are always searching for the next best thing, and now HD TV has become mainstream, more people have begun to realise that traditional make up application no longer works. This is because the camera picks up every brushstroke mark leaving an uneven foundation application.

“Airbrushing foundation on to well-prepared skin eliminates the need for brushstrokes and leaves a flawless durable and even make up foundation.

“The art of airbrushing hasn’t quite hit the mainstream yet because a lot of people are scared of not using the product correctly, which is why I have designed a bespoke course designed for the general public.

“The course will be fun and engaging, and will cover everything from the use and maintenance of the airbrush kit, to practising new techniques on other people, so I’d recommend bringing a friend.

“A lot of people looking for a career as a make-up artist pay £250 for training and even more for their own airbrush kit, but for around the same price people can get access to their own portable airbrush kit and a day’s training course.”

There are just 24 spaces available on the course, which runs from 10am until 4.30pm.

Hayley Davies, General Manager at the Premiere Classe Hotel in Coventry, added: “We are delighted that we have been chosen as the first destination to host this tailored beauty course.

“We’re keen to play a part in our local community, and offering events such as this demonstrates we are much more than just a hotel, but a place that offers useful services to people in the local area.”

For £255 per person the one-day course gives guests their own home use airbrush make up studio, a six hour training course and includes an optional overnight stay at the hotel.
